As part of our waste reduction initiative, we are tracking our diversion rates on a monthly basis. We are also developing effective source separation programs consistent with local recycling capabilities. By using proven strategies such as waste audits and our construction waste management policy, we are working to continually improve performance in this area.
We recognize recycling is just one way to reduce wastes. As a result, we have incorporated all four Rs, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover, not only into our policy, but also into our daily business routine. Because landfill sites account for 38 percent of Canada’s total methane emissions, a particularly potent greenhouse gas and contributor to climate change, we also invite our tenants to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover where possible. By checking labels, purchasing and using products that contain recycled materials and that can be recycled in your area you will help make a difference and do your part to protect our Earth for generations.
